What's New in DataPortal 11.0

Version 11.0 brings significant changes to the user interface and to the way you navigate the system. These changes are meant to simplify your work, improve consistency, and cut the time needed for everyday tasks.

New user interface

DataPortal has a refreshed, modern look:

  • a new login page, consistent with the rest of the system,
  • a unified style for views and interface elements,
  • better readability and a clearer information hierarchy.

These changes make the system more intuitive for both new and experienced users.

Consistent resource management

Resource management has been redesigned:

  • the structure is more logical and better organized,
  • navigation between resources is faster and more predictable,
  • projects, screens and other resources are presented in the same way.

This makes it easier to find what you need and to understand how elements relate to each other.

A permanent main menu on the left side of the screen:

  • lets you switch quickly between modules,
  • provides a consistent navigation point across the whole system,
  • removes the need to go back through intermediate views.

The menu works as the central switch for DataPortal features.

Launching screens from the project tree

Working with screens has changed:

  • screens can be launched directly from the project tree,
  • there is no need to go through additional intermediate views,
  • the project structure is now the place to both manage and launch screens.

Easier screen editing

Editing screens has been simplified:

  • you get to design mode faster and more directly,
  • fewer steps are needed to start editing,
  • preview mode and edit mode are more clearly separated.

These changes noticeably speed up design work and make everyday use more comfortable.

Placeholders and placeholder groups

Tag management has a new feature:

  • you can create placeholders and placeholder groups to use on screens,
  • the new interface makes them easier to create and organize.

This makes designing screens faster and more convenient.

DataPortal Designer – a smoother workflow

Designer is still the tool you know, with some practical improvements:

  • easier zooming and panning of the screen with the mouse, the way you would in graphics software,
  • reordering layers in the layer tree (top of the list = top of the view),
  • temporarily hiding and showing layers,
  • automatic, readable default names for inserted objects.

New Reports module

Report creation has been rebuilt from scratch:

  • the number of report types has been reduced to the most useful ones,
  • a new wizard guides you step by step: report type → variables → aggregate functions → one-time/recurring → periods and sub-periods → additional parameters,
  • an HTML preview is available while you build the report, with export to PDF or Excel,
  • reports have a refreshed, easier-to-read look.

Alarm rules – WYSIWYG editor

Alarm rules now have a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that makes it easier to format alarm messages (sent or displayed) without knowing any markup or code.

Two-factor authentication

Logging in to DataPortal can now be secured with a second authentication factor:

  • verification with a code sent by email,
  • verification with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator.

This gives user accounts much better protection against unauthorized access.

Refreshed cost calculator and billing

The cost calculator has a new look, and the billing module now has interactive charts for a more detailed analysis of your DataPortal costs:

  • a visual cost breakdown shows the percentage share of each item (data, visualization, communication and access, fee adjustments),
  • cost items are grouped into categories, each with its own subtotal,
  • the cost summary shows how costs change over time, with daily or monthly aggregation,
  • filtering by project lets you analyze each project's costs separately.

This helps you quickly spot the main cost drivers and plan your budget with confidence.

Refreshed inPoint shop

The shop where you buy inPoint packages has a new look consistent with the rest of the system, along with a few practical improvements:

  • a refreshed, clearer shop view makes it easier to choose a package and place an order,
  • fast online payments let you pay for an order in just a few steps, and the inPoints you buy are added to your Account balance automatically, with no waiting for a bank transfer to clear,
  • email notifications keep you informed about changes to your order status, such as when it is placed, paid and completed.

This makes topping up your Account faster, and the Account Owner always knows what stage their order is at.
