Map¶
The Map is an advanced tool used to visualize the placement of infrastructure elements on a map, such as devices, technical objects, or system locations. It can also be used to present the current state of devices, events, or processes, based on tag values.
Markers can be added to the map, representing devices, objects, or other infrastructure elements. These markers can dynamically change their state and appearance based on the values of the tags associated with them.
Inserting the map onto the screen¶

The map is added to the screen in the standard way:
- selecting the Map tool from the Toolbox,
- clicking on the screen at the place where the map should be inserted, or
- drawing an area intended for the map.
The map's size can be changed in design mode.
Map not displayed right after being added
After being added to the screen, the map will not be displayed in animation mode until its configuration has been saved at least once.
To do this, double-click the map area, open the Map settings window, and click the Accept changes button.
Editing the map¶
To go to the map's configuration:
- double-click the map on the screen
or - select the object and click the Edit button in the Properties panel.
The Map settings window will open.
Layout of the map settings window¶
In the Map settings window:
- on the left is the list of markers added to the map,
- on the right are available:
- the map's basic parameters,
- configuration of the markers' appearance,
- definition of the markers' states.
General map options¶
The following settings are available:
-
Fill - causes the map to be displayed across the entire screen, regardless of the object's size set in design mode.
-
Lock panning - changes how the map is handled; once this option is enabled, panning the map is restricted, and zooming the map in and out with the mouse wheel only works while the Ctrl key is held down.
-
Map center (latitude and longitude) - lets you specify the default map center that will be displayed when the screen is launched:
-
Zoom - specifies the initial map zoom level.
-
Markers - the Style field lets you select how points are displayed on the map (default shape, diamond, oval, rectangle, triangle).
Marker states¶
The map lets you define states that can be presented by markers.
Predefined states¶
Clicking the Predefined button automatically adds the default states along with their assigned colors.
Managing states¶
Available operations:
- + – add a new state,
- pencil – edit an existing state,
- trash can – delete a state,
- up / down – change the order of states.
The order of states is important, because it determines the display priority.
If several states are met at once for a single marker, the first state on the list is displayed.
Editing a marker state¶
To edit a marker state, select the desired state on the list, then click the pencil button.
The Edit marker state window will open, offering the following properties:
- State name – specifies the state's logical name (e.g. RUNNING, ALARM),
- State color – defines the color in which the marker will be displayed on the map when the given state is active.
Confirm the changes with the Accept changes button.
Adding markers to the map¶
To add a new marker:
- Click the + button in the bottom left corner of the map settings window.
- The Edit marker window will open.
Editing a marker¶
The Edit marker window offers the following settings:
- Title – the marker's name,
- Description – additional information displayed in the tooltip,
- Latitude and Longitude – the marker's location on the map,
- Use tags to determine location – lets you specify a tag whose location data will be used to position the marker.
- Always visible - once this option is enabled, the tooltip with the marker's name, description, and status is always visible.
Otherwise, the tooltip only appears when the cursor hovers over the marker.
Marker script¶
The Edit button lets you assign the action performed when the marker is clicked.
Scripts are selected from a list, and a detailed description of them can be found in the chapter →Built-in Actions.
Defining marker states¶
A list of states is available for each marker:
- a tag can be linked to each state,
- the tag value at which the given state is considered met must be specified.
To select a tag:
- double-click the Tag field in the states list.
State priority
If several states are met at the same time, the state with the highest priority is displayed, according to the order on the map's states list.
Editing and deleting markers¶
To edit an existing marker:
- Select it in the marker list on the left.
- Click the Edit button (pencil icon).
To delete a marker:
- select it on the list and use the Delete button (trash can icon).
Markers in the same location
If markers are located in the same place or are too close to each other, they will be grouped and replaced with a circle showing the number of markers. The circle's color corresponds to the highest-priority state within that group.
Clicking the circle displays a list of all the markers along with their states.
