Resource Management¶
In the DataPortal system, all telemetry and measurement elements are grouped in the Resources module. This module is the central place for managing technical data, device configuration, and their logical relationships. Each type of resource is presented on a separate tab, and the data is displayed in tabular form, making it easy to quickly search, filter, and edit.
The available tabs are:
Tags¶
The TAGS tab contains a list of all measurement variables (tags) available in the project. Each tag represents a single value sent from a device, e.g. temperature, humidity, digital input state, or GSM signal level. The table displays, among others, the following columns:
- Tag name – the variable name visible on synoptic screens and in reports.
- Data source – indicates which source (virtual device) the given value comes from.
- Project – specifies the project assignment (through the assignment to the source).
- Last value and measurement time – the current or most recently read value along with the date and time of the reading.
- Retention – the length of time read values are stored in the system (after this period, the data is deleted).
- Tag type (kind) – specifies where its value comes from: it can be Register (data directly from the device), Virtual (a tag not associated with a device), or Calculated (a value automatically computed based on a rule defined by the user).
- Tag type – specifies the method and format for retrieving data from the device — it can be digital input, digital output, analog input, or a holding-type register.
- Alarming – information on whether alarming functionality is enabled for a given tag, i.e. whether alarm thresholds have been set and a notification method defined.
From this tab, you can add new tags, edit existing ones, and assign them data sources and alarm thresholds.
Placeholders and Groups¶
This tab also lets you manage not only tags but also placeholders – symbolic value substitutes that are dynamically inserted while the system is running – as well as tag groups, used for logically linking tags and placeholders.
More information can be found in the chapter: → Manage system → Resources → Tags.
Sources¶
The SOURCES tab presents so-called data sources, i.e. virtual devices acting as an intermediate element between the physical telemetry device and the SCADA system.
Sources make it possible to maintain data continuity – if a physical device is replaced, it only needs to be reassigned to the existing source.
The sources table includes, among others:
- Source name and an optional description,
- Project to which the source is assigned,
- IP address,
- Model and serial number of the associated device.
From this tab, you can create new sources, view and edit their parameters, delete unused ones, or change the link between a source and a device.
More information can be found in the chapter: → Manage system → Resources → Data Sources.
Devices¶
The DEVICES tab displays a list of all physical telemetry devices assigned to a given account or project.
The table columns include, among others:
- Device serial number,
- Network identifier,
- Device model,
- Optional Description,
- Associated Source.
Here you can add a new device, link it to a data source, or remove it from the account.
More information can be found in the chapter: → Manage system → Resources → Devices.
SIM¶
The SIM tab contains a list of all SIM cards entered into the system. From the table, you can review card parameters such as:
- Card's IP address,
- IMEI,
- Phone number,
- Network Operator,
- Activation status.
